Please note this class requires instructor permission. After reading through the class, if you think this is a good fit for you and your dog, please send us a message with your dog’s disc history so we can be sure this is a good match!
This class is located at an acreage just north of the city. This acreage has horses. Dogs MUST be kept away from the horses and must not be livestock aggressive, human-aggressive/reactive or dog-aggressive/reactive for this class.
Please note that even though this class is outdoors, we will ask participants to wear masks as we may sometimes be in close contact.
Please note that disc classes will focus A LOT on the human and a lot on throwing. Dogs will take 1-2 turns throughout the lesson, on a long-line for added safety if required. When it is not your dog’s turn, your dog must be in your vehicle, ideally crated. A crate beside the vehicle (covered) is fine too. You will not be allowed to tether your dog to your vehicle.
If your dog is a relatively good catch (rollers or in the air are fine) and can focus off-leash around other teams, it’s time to up the ante! In this more advanced group, students will learn the following.
- Cueing the Drop
- Return to Hand or Feet
- Multi-Disc work
- More advanced throwing techniques
- Introduction to Two UpDog games: 4 Way Play, Spaced Out
Our last week will include a Mini-Trial for the games of 4 Way Play and Spaced Out.
For this class, you will need the following:
- A dog who reliably comes -off leash or on a dragline
- A dog who reliably brings their disc back
- A go-around
- Instruction permission! Please send us a message with your dog’s disc history so we can be sure this is a good match!
Prior disc instruction -through a club or set of lessons- is highly preferred.
