Please note this class is located at The Playground, approximately 5 minutes east of the city.
Flyball is a fast-paced team relay race! It is one of the only dog sports that is team-based, featuring four dogs on each running team. Dogs run down a line of jumps, perform a swimmer’s turn on a flyball box, which releases a ball that they then carry back over the jumps. Each dog on the team performs the pattern and competes directly against another team in a lane close by. Whichever team is the fastest wins!
Flyball is a ton of fun and builds excellent recalls, confidence and team-work. While almost any dog can learn and love flyball, it is a sport that calls out the athletic speedster who loves nothing more to run fast (and maybe loves a ball too!). Whether your dog LOVES balls, or doesn’t have a clue -they are welcome here!
Please note that this class requires dogs who are social with people and other dogs and have no issues off-leash for brief periods of time around others. It will also be somewhat different from a typical class where the dogs are in-class for a full hour. Instead, Intro to Flyball will mimic a Flyball team set-up, where dogs take turns to work on their skills and human students learn the ins-and-outs of being a helpful flyball teammate. Students should be prepared to have their dog in their car for parts of the class.
Dogs should be 5+ months for this class. No prior experience necessary.
No class Oct 12th.
