Have a dog who is difficult to handle at the vet’s or groomer’s? Too excited? Worried? Out of control? Might bite? Simply want to start your puppy off with great vet manners?
With both Working Spots (with your dog) and Audit Spots (without your dog), this two-hour workshop is here to help you and your dog have more successful vet visits.
We’ll cover the following topics:
- Cooperative Care -giving your dog choices in handling
- Calm Restraints -holding your dog for procedures
- Vet Set-Ups (vaccinations, ear checks, nail trims and more)
- Leash Handling for Small Spaces
- Dealing with the Waiting Room
- Muzzle Training
- Three Useful Tricks!
There are 6 working spots available.
Is your dog ready for a working spot?
Working spots are best suited to dogs comfortable working around other dogs and humans, who quite enjoy their food and are able to spend time not working quietly on a mat or in a crate in their working station. Excited dogs are fine as long as they can concentrate on task between moments of excitement.
Ideally each working dog will be accompanied by two handlers (one who will pose as “the vet” and one who will pose as “the handler” in a variety of training set-ups).
Dogs who are reactive towards people or dogs are not suitable for a working spot, but their humans are encouraged to come audit as they’ll certainly be a lot of material you can work on at home.
A working spot is $50.
Auditing spots are $20. If you wish to audit simply enter the coupon code “AUDIT” and hit ‘apply coupon’. This should take your total down to the $20 audit spot.
